I just got a production copy of the Ken Berman Trio CD “Looking Forward”.
The trio is: Ken, Kai Eckhardt on electric bass and Akira Tana on drums.
We recorded this gem of a group at Bay Records on November 21st 2008 and April 3, 2009. Ken and I mixed it in a few sessions at Megasonic towards the end of Summer 2009. I also mastered the album here at Megasonic.
Besides the individual talents and creative interaction between these three musicians, I am really digging on:
The pair of Schoeps MK2s over the hammers of Bay’s Yamaha C7.
The pair of Coles 4038 ribbons over Akira’s cymbals.
The weird selection of basses that Kai owns.
